The Save File

G'day Gamers,

What a week of gaming showcases. There was something for everyone, but my favourite moments were the Rayman Legends remake and the extended looks at both Wolverine and the new God of War. Fable finally got a date, there's a new Spyro game, and Clockwork Revolution really caught my eye. I reckon I'm going to have to play FF7 Rebirth so I can experience the conclusion to the trilogy with everyone else.

One more thing before we get stuck in: we're now on TikTok, where we dive into news stories, new releases and just my general opinions on all of it. It might look a bit bare right now, but there's plenty of content on the way. Hit follow to help us grow over there: @thesavefilenews

Let's get into it,

Faye + A Cube = New God of War

Sony ran over an hour on June 2 and bookended it with two heavyweights, Wolverine to open and God of War to close. September this year looks awful for my wallet but amazing for my gaming collection.

Here are some of the highlights.

  • Marvel's Wolverine (PS5, Sept 15) – Insomniac's extended gameplay look, with Logan infiltrating a compound and some genuinely brutal combat, plus Jean Grey, Mystique and Sabretooth.

  • God of War Laufey (PS5, TBA) – The closer. Faye, also known as Laufey, is the playable lead this time, battling through the Everywhen. No date, but a 23-minute reveal says it's a long way along.

  • Until Dawn 2 (2027) – A standalone Firesprite follow-up, new cast, abandoned tropical island, with Dacre Montgomery and Neil Newbon on board.

  • Control Resonant (Sept 24) – New trailer for Remedy's sequel, with Dylan Faden as the lead.

  • Onimusha: Way of the Sword (Sept 25) – Story trailer, and a demo is out now.

  • Silent Hill: Townfall (Sept 24) – This game looks terrifying in the best way possible.

  • Dune: Awakening (Sept 22) – The survival MMO hits consoles with a new single-player mode.

  • Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls (Aug 6) – Magneto, Green Goblin and Carnage confirmed for the launch roster.

  • Rayman Legends Retold (Oct 1) – The artwork in this game looks amazing, glad to see Rayman back and with new content included.

  • No Rest for the Wicked (Oct 1) – Moon Studios' action RPG hits 1.0 on PS5 and PC.
