G’day Gamers,

It’s a big week for the gaming community. Silksong finally has a release date, Xbox games are heading to PlayStation, and PlayStation games are packing their bags for Xbox. What a time to be alive

Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid is back, and Snake somehow makes a cardboard box feel like luxury real estate.

Let’s get into it!

Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Upon us

After 7 long years, Hollow Knight: Silksong is here. At Gamescom, Team Cherry finally announced that Silksong will be released on September 4th, 2025.

The intentional move of not releasing information or trailers, outside of a blink and you miss it cameo during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2, 2025, has paid big dividends. As the noise about the lack of updates grew, guessing where the date would drop became a community meme, and since the reveal it has climbed to the top of Steam wishlists.

One thing I think all gamers can appreciate is Team Cherry’s launch strategy, with no early review codes for press. Critics will play when everyone else does, and Kickstarter backers are receiving their redemption codes via Kickstarter updates. Supporting those who supported you is a great way to stand out in a money focused industry.

While on the topic of Team Cherry being wholesome, they have also said a big part of why this took so long is simply that they were enjoying building it and living in the world, rather than rushing it out.

If Team Cherry has continued to evolve the gameplay while keeping everything we love about the original, we might finally have something that can challenge Expedition 33 for GOTY.
